Canada Plans to Give PR for Additional 2,000 Temporary Foreign Workers
An extra 2,000 temporary foreign workers would be allowed to Canada as permanent residents in the current year by the Provincial Nominee Program of Canada, the Canadian Government has announced.

The Provincial Nominee Program grants participating territories and provinces to nominate a fixed amount of economic immigration applicants for Canadian PR each year in order to satisfy local labor market requirements.

Announcement About Temporary Foreign Workers

In a news announcement published on Mar 12, the Canadian Government said the 2,000 extra PNP positions are designed primarily for Temporary Foreign Workers who are existing long-term in Canada with moderate skills grouped as National Occupational Code “C” who have integrated into the society of Canada.

Temporary international workers fill long-term labor market demands and provide their contribution to the Canadian economic growth,  Ahmed Hussen, Canadian Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Minister, told in a statement. Canada identifies the need to give chances for them to transition to permanent residence and these extra places beneath the Provincial Nominee Program will do precisely that.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (I.R.C.C) told the further spaces will also encourage to address worker vulnerability.

Below its plan of Multi-Year Immigration Levels, Canada has a 2019 intake goal of 61,000 for the P.N.P, which is a rise of 6,000 more in number over 2018.

A spokesman for Ahmed Hussen said to media that the 2,000 places for temporary foreign workers are the portion of this suggested increase.

The report follows I.R.C.C’s creation of the Interim Pathway for especially Caregivers, a temporary, permanent residence pathway that started on Mar 4 and will continue open till Jun 4, 2019, for qualified in-home temporary international worker caregivers who arrived in Canada after Nov 30, 2014.
