The Canadian government is planning to welcome around 3,05,000 latest permanent residents this year. This would be the highest projected level of immigration in decades, with an increase of 7% on the previous year plan.
The government has provided the details in its plan for this year s immigration levels. The increase in the number of immigration would be primarily through family sponsorship and refugee settlement program though over half of entire new comers would arrive through the economic immigration programs. The target mark of 1,60,000 individuals in the economic programs is in line with the admission through those programs over current years.
The 2016 plans marks an augment of around 20,000 in the entire number of latest permanent residents to be admitted.
According to Mc Callum, Immigration Minister, the plan is grounded in the tradition of Canada of being the most generous and welcoming nation. We would be able to greet more individuals to Canada.
The plan calls is to allow around 2,80,000 to 3,05,000 permanent residents into Canada this year. He called it as the country’s biggest targeted number of latest immigrants. He also said that the Canadian government’s goal is to bring in immigrants who look to build a better Canada.
Immigrants can arrive to Canada through any of the three categories: Family Class, Economic and Refugee and Humanitarian.
The target under Economic category would be to allow around 1,60,600 immigrants, under Family category around 80,000 immigrants would be allowed and under Refugee and Humanitarian category around 59,400 individuals would be allowed to settle in Canada.
