Canada Observes Surge in Temporary to Permanent Residence Transition
Canada observed a 50% rise in the number of applicants transitioning from temporary residence to permanent residence between 2016 & 2019. New numbers show approximately 75,000 individuals became Canadian permanent residents in the year 2019 which is increased from below 50,000 in the year 2016.

It reveals that temporary residents - especially those in Canada by the International Mobility Program are a significant source for new immigrants. Since 2016, Canada has witnessed constant annual rises in the candidates' number who are transitioning from temporary residence to permanent status.

The numbers for the year 2019 are 11% and 26% higher than the numbers in 2018 and 2017 respectively. It reveals that as the federal government has continued its policy of regulated immigration rises, the number of applicants making the transition from temporary residence to permanent residence has risen correspondingly.

International Mobility Program has played a Key Role as a Major source for Canada PR

Government numbers show that 77%, or above 57,000, of the total for the year 2019 had prior temporary status by the International Mobility Program. The International Mobility Program permits Canadian firms to hire international workers on a Canadian work permit without the requirement of the Labour Market Impact Assessment (L.M.I.A).

The numbers reveal 65% higher permanent residents transitioned from the International Mobility Program in the year 2019 than did so in the year 2016, related to 49% overall.

By opposition, the number of applicants transitioning to permanent residents who came to Canada through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program has declined since 2016. The 5,660 applicants in this group in the year 2019 is 18% lesser than the 2016 number of 6,880.

However, the number in 2019 was increased by 22% than in the prior year, getting a four-year drop in transition numbers for the Temporary Foreign Worker Program category.

Boost in Study Permit holders number, while have followed a similar pattern as the entire numbers. Above 11,500 new permanent residents in the year, 2019 held prior Study Permit status, which is higher than 40%, 8,270 new permanent residents in 2016 and 6% on the 2018 figure.

The federal government of Canada views global students as blue-chip applicants for Canada PR. A clear pathway to Canada PR has been set for global students.

First, they come to Canada on a Study Permit. Then, furnished that they graduate from a suitable course at a qualified institution, they can eligible for a Post Graduation Work Permit as per their studies length.

Finally, they can use the accumulated experience in Canada to make the transition to Canadian permanent residence, either by the Federal Express Entry system or through a provincial program.
