Canada and its province Nova Scotia are set to implement new
Canada immigration programs to provide permanent settlement and enhanced job opportunities to the skilled applicants.
CIC has recently announced the
launch of Express Entry in 2015.Through this program, applicants who have a nomination or an eligible job offer under Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program( PNP) would quickly be invited to file their applications for
Canada Permanent Residency. This is the major difference between ‘Express Entry’ and the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, which is used only to fill shortage of the skills and temporary labour.
Candidates when invited to come to Canada under the four economic streams of
Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program, ‘Federal Skilled Trades ‘(FST) Program , ‘Canadian Experience Class’(CEC) program and a portion of PNP can expect fast processing time of six months or within six months.
Additionally, Nova Scotia is seeking individuals who are willing to join the labour market to fill permanent and full time positions, and are willing to reside in that place under the new Nova Scotia Nominee Program.
Labor Secretary, Rosalinda Baldoz , has said that applicants under the Nova Scotia program need not have a job offer on hand while submitting the applications. However, they must plan to pursue employment in the occupations that are nominated as ‘in demand’ by the province.
Nova Scotia province has recognized 43 occupations in the areas of skilled trades, food services, health services, engineering as ‘in demand’ jobs.
Following are the eligibility criteria for the applicants:
• Age has to be between 21-55 years
• Meet the minimum language requirements
• Has minimum of 2 years of continuous experience for full time in the previous 5 years in a qualified occupation and plan to work in that occupation
• Residing legally in one own country of residence
• Support oneself financially in order to settle in Nova Scotia. Must have a minimum education at high school level, diploma, degree or a post-secondary institution certificate and that has to be one year in length. Has to be really ready to reside in Nova Scotia and have the capability to establish financially in the province.
• Has to complete an Employment Settlement Plan.
