The Government of Canada intends that entry for overseas nationals who are engaged in the performing arts will be easy now. A fresh job list in it is likely to be issued soon. Thus, there will be an LMIA exemption.

Employers in Canada seeking to hire an overseas worker have to prove that a foreign worker is needed to fill a job vacancy. They must also show that a Canadian citizen or PR is unavailable to do this duty. This process requires the documentation of LMIA.

Consequently, the authorities see that hiring an overseas worker in this domain of performing arts gives an advantage to Canada. Moreover, it will give reciprocal benefit to the citizens of Canada. The performing organizations and artists will gain immensely.

The jobs in the arts sphere, which pass the eligibility for an LMIA exemption work permit, are as follows:

Ballet Dances or contemporary dance, Orchestra, Opera and Live theater

The first step of the process begins when the employer submits an Employment Offer by using the  Employer Portal prior to submitting an application for all work permits,

The Portal manages all online applications and facilitates the process of hiring of all LMIA-exempted overseas workers.

Furthermore, an important feature of LMIA exemption for foreign performing art workers is a proved evidence of reciprocal employment.

Eligibility Requirements for Canada Express Entry

The immigration officers can apply this exemption for work permits when they are convinced that there is a reciprocal arrangement in opportunities and it can be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents working for the sphere of performing arts.

These documents show the proof of the reciprocal work:

An offer of employment has given by the employer as per section R209.11, which shows that the  job offer of  the applicant is given in the opera, dance, live theater, orchestra  disciplines,

Presently the employer receives core/composite funding from the CCA. He is even eligible if there is financial support through the parliamentary appropriation, or from the NAC,

The applicant must give One letter to the relevant service organization or representative of Canadian performing arts. It must prove that there are reciprocal global opportunities for Countrymen in those disciplines, like:

  • Ballet choreographers

  • Contemporary dancers

  • Theater Actors

  • Opera singers

  • Orchestral musicians

Such reciprocal letter should include details like:

  • The mandate of the organization, including details of eligible members,

  • The discipline like dance, opera, orchestra, live theater, and the type of work for which there is a confirmed reciprocal arrangement

  • A statement confirming that reciprocal arrangement exists in the previous  years also, and its details,

  • The sign of a responsible person,

  • Finally, the date of signature

Additionally, many representatives can affirm reciprocity. These organizations can give reciprocal letters:
