Canada could welcome a maximum of 390,000 new immigrants per year by the year 2022 as per the latest multi-year immigration levels plan published by the Canadian government on 12 Mar 2020. Ottawa’s plan comprises mid-range goals of 341,000 new immigrants in the year 2020, 351,000 new immigrants in the year 2021 and 361,000 new immigrants in the year 2022.

Meanwhile, the plan also proposed a high-range of immigration levels plan of 370,000 new immigrants in the year 2020, 380,000 new immigrants in the year 2021 and 390,000 new immigrants in the year 2022. which would view Canada welcome 1.14 million new immigrants between now and 2022.

The immigration levels plan is a sequence of the managed immigration developments observed below the Liberal federal government since 2015.

Canadian Immigration Levels Plan for Economic Class

Once again, the broad majority of the predicted increase in the immigration plan is in the Economic Class.

Below the mid-range goals, Canada is forecasted to receive 195,800 new economic immigrants in the year 2020, 203,050 new economic immigrants in the year 2021 and 212,050 new economic immigrants in the year 2022.

Meantime, the high-range level would view Canada welcome up to 229,000 new economic immigrants in the year 2022. The increases are principally considered for in the Canadian new pilot programs, as well as below the Provincial or Territorial Nominee Program.

Below pilots including Caregivers, Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot, and Agri-Food Immigration Pilot Canada is projected to welcome 5,200 newcomers in 2020, increasing to 9,500 in 2022.

For the Provincial or Territorial Nominee Program, the mid-range level is 67,800 new immigrants for 2020, rising to 73,000 new immigrants by 2022.

Quebec province has the power to establish its own levels of immigration, and the governing Coalition Avenir Quebec decreased the level by 20% in 2019. Quebec’s 2020 goal for skilled immigrant workers and business immigration is 25,600 immigrants, with the rest falling in the Family and Refugee classes, which are included beneath the federal targets.

Canadian Immigration Levels Plan for Family Class

Canadian Family Class immigration intake is also fixed to see slight growth over the following three years. Below the mid-range goals, the Family Class is predicted to maintain an intake level of 91,000 new immigrants per each year in 2020, 2021 & 2022.

A small addition is incorporated under the high-range forecast, from 96,000 new immigrants in 2020 to 98,000 new immigrants in the following two years. What appears obvious is that the federal government is satisfied with the present Family Class immigration levels.

Canadian Immigration Levels Plan for Refugee and Protected Persons Class

Canada is proposing small improvements over the following three years. The mid-range plan provides for 49,700 refugees in the year 2020, increasing to 52,950 refugees by 2022. These numbers strongly establish that Canada is one of the leading nations in the world for the intake of Refugees and Protected individuals.
