Canada Holds the Largest 92nd Express Entry Draw for this Year

June 2018, 14
EMAIL  Print A+
On June 13th, The Government of Canada conducted its draw which was the largest in Express Entry for 2018.It issued 3,750 invitations to apply seeking Canadian PR to such candidates who had a CRS score of 451 or above. Before this draw the largest draw in the EE pool of 2018 had the numbers of 3,500. IRCC also used the tie-break regulation in this draw. The date and time for this invitation round was July 21, 2017 at 07:01:28 UTC. The message here is that all candidates who had a CRS score of 451 or above and also the candidates who submitted a profile prior to the specific tie-break date/time, were successful to receive the ITA in this round.

The issuing process of ITAs in each draw of 2018 has gathered pace during the year. In the beginning it issued 2,750 ITAs in January in two draws. After this it issued 3,000 ITAs each in February and March in the four draws. Furthermore it issued 3,500 ITAs in four draws in April and May.

Apparently the draw size has an increase, because Canada has a high immigration target in the present year.  The admissions targets for the next year and also for 2020 are set to increase.

The Government has a target of 74,900 in 2018. It will admit candidates by using the three economic immigration classes of the Express Entry system which are the FSW Class, the FST Class as well as the Canadian Experience Class. For the next year the target in these three classes is 81,400.

The data also shows that the targets for 2018/2019 are high in comparison to 2017, but comparatively fewer ITAs were issued in the present year than on this date in 2017.

The large draw size has the effect to reduce the minimum CRS score. the timing between two draws is an important factor that impacts on the scores.

Between Today’s draw and the May 23 all-program draw there was a gap of three weeks in the invitation rounds. This was the reason for high minimum CRS score in this draw. Generally the norm is to hold a draw in two weeks in 2018.

Having sufficient time between draws permits the EE pool to replenish, which raises the minimum score. Furthermore frequent rounds reduce the number of new arrivals in the pool between draws.

Presently IRCC has increased its draw size to 3,750 and it is interesting to witness the effect of bi-weekly or frequent draws of this number.  IRCC is working systematically to achieve the targets, and there will be some changes, in the form of different kind of draws and also in different volumes of draws.

A Bachelor’s / Master’s degree or an IELTS scored of 8 in each category is sufficient to obtain an ITA for the present.  Having a relative as a PR in Canada is also helpful in the Express Entry draw.
