Canada Holds Express Entry Draw Invites 3000 Candidates

March 2018, 15
EMAIL  Print A+

The Canadian Government has extended an invitation to 3,000 Express Entry candidates for applying to the permanent residence. A draw was held on March 14th and the minimum CRS score for it was 456.

The feature of this draw was that it was held after a gap of three-weeks from the previous draw. The Draws held in 2018 feature the number of Invitations to apply fluctuating in the range of 2,750 and 3,000 and the CRS scores had a range of the low 442 and the high of 456. Taking these developments into consideration it will be interesting to study the date of the next draw and the minimum CRS score.

IRCC made the use of the tie-break rule in this draw. The time and date fixed for this tie-break was March 3rd, 2018, at 02:12:11 UTC. All candidates who have a CRS score exceeding 456, and the candidates who had a score of 456 and had registered their profile in the Express Entry pool earlier than that time, are eligible to get an ITA.

The recent draw was the fifth to be held in 2018, which happens to be the first year when the governmental New Immigration Level Plan is being implemented. The target for 2018 is to admit 74,900 aspirants in Canada by using the three economic immigration categories managed by the Express Entry system of the Federal Skilled Trades Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Class, and the Canadian Experience Class.

The fact to be noted here is that the target for the year in the Express Entry classes is that there are 3,200 additional admissions For ITAs when compared to the target of 2017- (86,023). During April and May 2017 big draws were held and the largest happened on April 12, where 3,923 Invitations were issued.

IRCC has to gear up for reaching the 2018 targets. So far the country has issued 14,500 ITAs during 2018 and the steps adopted by the Government of Canada to meet the targets are worth watching. It necessarily has to hold large draws at frequent intervals.

The candidates in Express Entry also benefitted from the linking of the Human Capital Priorities Stream of Ontario. This stream, being a part of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program permits the province to search candidates figuring in the Express Entry pool with a CRS of 400, who also fulfill other criteria.

The Province of Ontario opted for three draws during February using its Human Capital Priorities Stream and issued 1,088 invitations to apply to Express Entry candidates seeking a provincial nomination. In 2018, 1,808 invitations were issued to such candidates using this stream. They are also awarded 600 additional points when they apply successfully for a provincial nomination.

Manitoba, British Columbia, and Prince Edward Island have also linked PNPs with the Express Entry this year. For the candidates a Master’s degree, an advanced proficiency in English language and some work experience as a true professional hold the key to success.

The present draw serves as an ideal example of the variation in the draws of the Express Entry pool, and the future of the draws is worth watching.
