Canada discusses economic immigration
Territorial, Federal, and provincial ministers of immigration have met today in Toronto in order to discuss the assets of Canada economic immigration.

The meeting was co-chaired by Chris Alexander, the minister for Canada Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and Michael Chan, Citizenship, Immigration & International Trade Minister of Ontario. The meeting was focused on the selection of immigrants and the enhancement of settlement as well as labor market outcomes for new nationals.

During the meeting the minister’s discussed about the launch of the new selection system—Express Entry, and the continuing significance of the Provincial Nominee programs that allows the territories and provinces to meet the labor market needs.

Minister Chris Alexander stated that the federal government is working with territorial and provincial partners to welcome the brightest and elite immigrants and intending to integrate them swiftly into the Canadian economy and society.

He also said that while operating with the provincial as well as territorial partners, the government can maximize the immigration benefits that are brought to the country’s economy, and support top priority by creating jobs as well as economic growth.

In addition, the ministers also discussed on the progress of three-year action plan FPT vision for Canada immigration (2012-2015), which is planned to adapt reforms of immigration to build a fair, flexible, and fast economic immigration system. 

Efforts to remain emphasized on addressing the needs of labor market, improving settlement results as well as rising the Francophone immigration for new nationals.
