Foreign students In Australia
The DIBP of Australia has launched a new campaign to attract new students and also educate students in foreign countries about the prevailing visa conditions in the country and also the impacts of the new courses being brought up.

Michaelia Cash, who is the assistant immigration minister has said that she is very much concerned that there is a wrong perception amongst students from foreign countries that they change or downgrade their course as they please after they enter the country.

She explained that students who are doing this and downgrading their courses form streamlined visa processing to an non-stop eligible provider are actually not complying to their visa conditions and face chances of getting their visa cancelled.

A very minimal amount of students have breached their visa conditions but the government is very keep on strongly sending this message to education providers and students.

The department is making full use of the social media system said Cash and id making all international students aware about this through social media and their website and also what impact will it have on them if they change their course after they come into the country said Cash.

The migration blog will be updated regularly along with the FAQ section and a full range of scenarios will be posted so that students can take the appropriate action if the are faced with a similar situation.

The department is also talking to students who have come on SVP and have now changed to non-stop besides the education campaign. All the students will receive an advise letter and they can explain their situation explained Cash.

Strategies should be put in place by education providers so that incentives for students are minimised under SVP if the transfer or change their course.

There is streamlined visa processing for students who are eligible from march 24, 2012 where students can change their course but they all need to follow a proper guideline.

A foreign student who wants to change his course must first complete 6 months of the highest qualification course he was initially granted visa for. If they want to study in a different educational sector they should apply for a new visa.

A student has three options to change their educational sector. They can transfer themselves to another streamlined institution, continue the current course or they should apply for a totally new visa after they complete 6 months in the same course they were initially granted an visa for. They can also leave visa voluntarily get their current student visa cancelled and apply for an entirely new student visa if they have a letter of offer from a new education provider.
