Boosting of Australia’s International Education Sector
Simplified international student visa framework (SSVF) has been introduced to support Australia’s education services by the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, the minister for education and training and senator the Hon Michaela cash, assistant minister for immigration and border protection.

The modification will mean to:
  • Student visa subclasses reduction in the number from eight to two 
  •  For all international students Simplified single immigration risk framework has introduced 
Minister Pyne stated that, Australia welcomes the quality international students who boosts the countries relationship and provides a much needed boost to the country’s economy, jobs, communities and locals. This leads to the improvement and protection of the integrity of the Australia’s immigration system. He also added that there was immediate move of government to improve competitiveness and pleasing to see the growth of resumed in international student enrolments in Australia.

Minister cash has also stated that there will be clear benefits as an improved approach as a part of SSVF for the administration of student visa. The student visa program will be maintained and improved by the overall integrity for the regulatory arrangements and also it helps to avoid the unnecessary cost on education and burden 

The SSVF will apply to all international students which lay outs financial and English language evidentiary requirements of the students based on two things: the education sectors including all course types and the immigration citizenship profiles of the student’s country.

 It also includes the replacements will be in the both current assessment level frame work and arrangements of the streamlined visa processing (SVP).  The SSVF will be enhancing both integrity and competitiveness by supporting the growth of the international education sector while extending streamlined processing 

Minister cash said that the changes by the future directions for streamlined visa processing 

She also stated that SVP is now time to implement a simpler, broader, fairer framework though it is served as good purpose

A working group is being formed to guide implementation of new framework with the international education sector stakeholders. SVP will be expired on 30 June 2016 with the responsible quality assurance and regulation of education services by the agencies.  These agencies will responsible for the overseas students on the new regime who will be closely work with the department of immigration and border protection 

Minister Pyne stated that the SSVF will contribute to the objectives for the consultation released in April for international education of the Draft National Strategy and on the international education week which subject of a roundtable 

The first of two roundtables will be held in Canberra at parliament house for the discussion of the draft national strategy on Thursday 18 June which is chaired with the involvement of ministers for the international education regarding portfolios. It is chaired by the minister Pyne including Minister Cash
