Settle in Canada Province British Columbia
With the intention to support employers who wish to bring in overseas nationals, British Columbia has announced a new skilled worker immigration category termed as Express Entry British Columbia, which ensures faster entry of overseas skilled professionals to the country.

In order to apply for the new stream, applicants must apply under the federal Express Entry system, where they will get to know whether they are eligible for any of the federal economic immigration categories. All eligible candidates can create a profile expressing their interest in settling in B.C. However, applicants need to hold a permanent job offer to work on full-time basis in the province.

Sources stated that after creating the profile, candidates are eligible to become provincial nominees under Express Entry B.C.  in any of the four categories such as Skilled Workers, Health Care Professionals, International Graduate and International Post Graduate.

Reportedly, a job offer on full-time basis of indefinite period at a wage that will permit the candidate to settle in B.C is also required. The new system is applicable to skilled workers who hold a university or trade school diploma and years of work experience in their respective field. This criterion is not applicable to people who enter the province to do low-skilled work in certain professions such as food services, caregiving and agriculture. These people enter the country on international exchange programs, short-term work permits or through the temporary foreign worker program.

CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) has taken the authority to grant permanent resident status and committed to processing applications for Express Entry in not more than six months.

Notably, the provincial nominee quota of BC has increased to 5,500 this year from 4,150 previous year. And, the B.C. in lines with the Prairie provinces had granted more provincial nominee slots by Ottawa.
