Australian Government is Presently Reviewing its List of Skilled Occupations

In two months from now, the Australian federal government would reveals its updated List of Skilled Occupations (SOL) for this year 2016-17 which would come into force from 1st July 2016.

The Australian federal government is presently reviewing its list of skilled occupations. The Education Department of Australia is accountable for giving suggestions to the Immigration and Border Protection Minister on the composition of the List of Skilled Occupations (SOL).

This suggestion is offered based  on the submissions congregated by the Education Department of Australia that assists identifies the trades and professions that would be in demand in the coming five years in Australia and it also points out which occupations whose demand is either reducing or demand is being convened locally.

The process updating the List of Skilled Occupations for the year 2016-17 is in progress.

The progress for submission for this year’s List of Skilled Occupations ran from 1st October 2015 to 13th November 2015.

Around 115 submissions has been made by employee and industry representative, professional and trade organizations and other stake holders were received that are now being reviewed for this year’s List of Skilled Occupations.

Based on the submissions that are being made, there is an indication in the occupations list  that would be in demand and or required professionals in the next coming years.

The List of Skilled Occupations is as follows:

Accountants, Architects, Engineers, Lawyers, Nurses, System Analyst, Multimedia specialists, Software engineer, Web Developer.  Database Admin, Psychiatrist, Psychologists, Social workers, Teachers, Therapists, Electricians,  Carpet installers, Brick Layers,  System Admin,  Glaziers, Trade individuals etc.

And the following is the occupations list where demand is being met or is reducing:

Teachers, Dentists, Environment Health Officers, General Practitioners, Intensive Care Doctors, Obstetricians, Pharmacists, Gynecologists, Radiographers, Ship Engineers, Dieticians, Anesthetists and Veterinarians.

This list is based on suggestions and submissions made by many employee representatives and industry bodies, professional and trade organizations and stake holders. This list much of a prospect than an assurance of this year’s List of Skilled Occupations being made by the Australian government.
