Australian Distinguished Talent Visa Applications Can be Submitted Online

A new legislative instrument attached in the previous week allows distinguished talent visa appeals to be lodged online by a web form on the Home Affairs Department website. Two points are of interest with this: those aspiring to lodge an online appeal will be disappointed as the link is presently broken; and that this sort of appeal is different to an Internet appeal, which is submitted through ImmiAccount.

Setting aside appellants who have presented specific assistance to the Government of Australia, the bar to be given this visa is very high as principal visa appellants for a distinguished talent visa need to be globally identified record of outstanding and exceptional achievement, be still leading in their own area of expertise, would be an asset to the community in Australia, and would have no trouble in securing employment or can establish themselves individually in Australia in their selected area of discipline. They also must be chosen by a citizen of Australia, permanent resident of Australia, qualified New Zealand citizen, or an organization from Australia who has a national reputation in connection to the subject matter. Those beneath 18 years old or a minimum of 55 years old will also require to be of exceptional advantage to the community in Australia.

Major Difference between an Internet Application & an online Application for an Australian Visa

The difference within an Internet application and an online application are that online applications still need the fulfillment of the approved paper appeal form which is then uploaded to a webform, whereas the application form in ImmiAccount is the accepted form for an Internet appeal.

Home Affairs Department has been gradually migrating Australian visa and citizenship appeals to the ImmiAccount platform, with some appeals, such as an Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186) visa and Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (Subclass 187) visas, only being able to appeal with an Internet appeal by ImmiAccount.

The advantages of the ImmiAccount system upon paper-based appeals is the certainty of understanding that a valid appeal has been lodged as confirmation letters are sent in the span of seconds. Paper-based appeals need manual receipting at the designated processing center.

There are not several visas that use a web form to present applications. One that attains to mind is the Global Special Humanitarian (Subclass 202) visa. Perhaps with simply 200 distinguished talent visas allotted for this financial year, it may not gain much economic sense to include this visa into ImmiAccount.
