Australia Welcomes Over 50,000 Indian Students in 2014
Australia has witnessed surge in influx of Indian students pursuing higher education, with the Victoria state itself noticing 20 % increase in 2014 when compare to last year.

The Director of the Victorian Government Business Office in Bangalore, Annie Santhana stated that more than 50,000 students from India have enrolled throughout the Australia of which half of them are enrolled in Victoria.

Citing the forecasts organized by international agencies focusing on international student mobility, Santhana said that the number of Indian students coming to Australia is set to increase every year, representing around 25-30 % growth year by year.

The maximum number of Indian students is heading from metros, however, students from tier 2 and tier 3 such as Nagpur, Chandigarh, Trichy, Coimbatore, Madurai, etc. are also moving to Australia for pursuing higher education.

Reportedly, main stream courses such as engineering, business and IT along with sciences remained the most preferable programs, nonetheless most of them are enrolling in vocational study programs as well.

Santhana added that the government has reinforced the police force and they have made every attempt to clear the misinformation that has been given to students from educational agencies. In order to prevent such things, the government has taken significant measures such as giving open access to study in Melbourne student care center, which helps foreign students regarding financial assistance, medical information, domestic issues, study guidance, etc. added Santhana.

Sources revealed that Deakin and La Trobe are the most popular universities among Indian students and some of them choose highly ranked universities such as Monash University and University of Melbourne.
