Australia Immigration

The Australia government's Immigration department has published the occupation ceilings for programs of skilled migration applicable in the fiscal year 2019-20. Occupational Ceiling is the highest number of Expressions of Interest (EOI) or invitations that would be announced from an occupation group. By placing the occupation limits, the government of Australia intends to make sure that a small number of occupations do not dominate the skilled migration program.

Before appealing for Australia migration by the skilled migration programs, the appellants need to check whether their profession is listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL). Presently, the list includes higher than 200 professions and the list is periodically updated by the Home Affairs Department (DHA), Australia.

Once a particular occupation meets the ceiling limit, no further invitations are announced for that specific occupation or program for the remaining year. The invitations will then be published to migrants in different occupations even if though they have a less ranking score.

The occupation ceilings support the appellants know which are the most in-demand professions in the Australian labor market. While the ceiling limits of a few occupations are enormous, the ceiling limits of some different occupations are less.

Occupational Ceilings for the Fiscal Year 2019-20

For the fiscal year 2019-20, the Australian government has set the occupational ceiling for enrolled nurses at more than 17,000. The occupation ceiling for carpenters, Secondary school teachers, electricians, and software programmers is greater than 8,000.

At the meantime, the ceiling for economists, cartographers and music professionals has been set at 1000. High ceiling means the occupations are in great demand in the labor market of Australia. Though Australia decreased its migration program places for 2019-20, this is not displayed in the occupational ceilings published for the same year.

It needs to be noted that Ceilings of Occupations do not appeal to Australia's Employer-Sponsored, State or Territory Nominated and Business Innovation and Investment visa sub-classes.
