Alberta PNP
Two draws of provincial nomination have produced an opportunity for Express Entry applicants exploring an opportunity in the Alberta province which is the Canada’s western Province, home to Edmonton, Calgary, and Banff National Park.

On 17 July 2019, Alberta announced a total of 251 NOIs to Express Entry applicants for Canada PR with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores beginning at 400. After one One week, on July 24, there were 220 NOIs given out to 220 applicants with CRS scores as less as 303.

The NOI’s were announced as a portion of the Alberta Express Entry Stream selection by which the Alberta PNP can explore the federal Express Entry system for applicants who satisfy the stream’s eligibility conditions and invite them to appeal for a nomination from the province for Canada permanent residence.

Since the initial Selection draw of Alberta Express Entry-Stream, which held on just over a year ago, the Alberta PNP has conducted 26 draws—announcing a sum of 5,063 NOIs.

No employment offer or prior work experience in the province of Alberta is needed to be suitable for the Stream Alberta Express Entry. However, candidates should be working in a profession that promotes the province’s economic growth and priorities of diversification. The province does not produce a list of qualified occupations.

Candidates should also have an Express Entry C.R.S score of minimum 300 in Canadian Express Entry stream.

Alberta PNP states it may give preference to applicants with:

  • An employment offer and/or Albertan work experience;
  • A Canadian post-secondary institution a degree and a valid employment offer; or
  • A child, parent, or sibling currently living in the province of Alberta.

Some parameters that decrease a candidate’s possibility of receiving an invitation from the province of Alberta, such as:

  • The Express Entry expiry date is in 3 months of the draw
  • Certain professions such as those listed in the Stream Alberta Opportunity Ineligible Professions list

Draws of Alberta Express Entry issues invitations to applicants with CRS scores that are much lesser than that of Federal Express Entry draws. The least CRS score of 425 in the Alberta PNP draw conducted on 10 July 2019 which is the highest when compared to the previous draws. However, it was well beneath the most current cut-off CRS score of 459 for a federal Express Entry Draw.

The lowest CRS cut-off score in the Federal Express Entry draws conducted in 2019 was 438. Alberta has chosen Express Entry applicants with CRS scores as less as 300 by the Alberta Associated Express Entry Stream on four times in 2019.
