Alberta Opens Two new Streams in the PNP

The province of Alberta announced the opening two new streams in its Nominee Program on June 14th.The Alberta Opportunity Stream and Alberta Express Entry stream are seeking such Candidates who submitted application in these streams successfully to receive a Provincial Nomination and fast-track their process for permanent residence in Canada.

Alberta had announced in 2017 regarding introducing these streams, but the accurate criteria for were not informed until June 14th. The EE stream attracts candidates who have active profiles in the federal Express Entry system.  The Opportunity stream attracts such persons who work in the province at the time of applying.

EXPRESS ENTRY


The EE  stream in Alberta is in alignment with the federal EE  system. For getting the consideration in the PNP stream, an aspirant must  have profile that is active in any of the three programs in alignment with the federal Express Entry. These are the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker, or the Federal Skilled Trades.

Alberta will judge profiles in the federal Express Entry pool automatically. AINP will contact profile holders directly who are interested and invite them to apply for the Express Entry stream of AINP. Presently the precise selection criteria are unknown, but it  it will look out for candidates who show strong ties to the province and can extend support in the economic development . The norm for getting a consideration by AINP is that the candidates must be interested in Alberta and show this in their profile.

After the candidate receives the notification from AINP, they can submit an application in the PNP of the province. In case it gets the approval, the candidate receives the provincial nomination, which leads to an increase of 600 points to the EE CRS score. This guarantees the candidate to get the official Invitation to Apply seeking Canadian PR, in the next draw.

ALBERTA OPPORTUNITY STREAM


There is no applying norm in the Alberta Opportunity stream which requires a candidate to have an active EE profile. The program has a few strict eligibility requirements:

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS


1 – Residency and work permit requirements


All Aspirants must be valid and temporary residents in Canada holding the authorization to work. The candidate needs to reside and work in Alberta. The refugee claimants are not eligible in this stream.

2 – Occupation requirements


At the time of applying to AINP and its assessment, the applicant must work in an eligible occupation in the province, which is in alignment with the work experience in the past. PGWP holders also must work in Alberta in a Job that is related to their field of study.

There are two lists of ineligible occupations:

The Alberta Opportunity Stream In eligible Occupations list:

This list is applicable to all applicants. If an occupation exists on this list, the person is not eligible to apply.
There is a List of High and low-wage jobs  in Alberta which shows on Refusal to Process an LMIA List: This list applies to applicants who hold a PG Work Permit. If a person holds a PGWP and the occupation exists on this list, the person is not eligible to apply.

3 – English/French language requirements


All Aspirants must possess proficiency in French or English   that is equal to the CLB Level 4. This must have the proof through valid results from approved language tests in Canada. Furthermore, from June 14th, 2019, this will have the norm of CLB Level 5 in French or English  .

4 – Education requirements


All applicants must complete high school education in the country of their origin.

5 – Requirements of Work experience


While applying to AINP and its assessment, the applicant needs to work in an eligible occupation in the province which is in alignment with the work experience in the past. PG Work Permit holders need to work in the province in an job that is related to their field of study.

PGWP holders need to work in the occupation which aligns with their educational credential in Alberta.

The Experience norm is having full-time (30 hours/week). Furthermore the part-time experience is not worthy of consideration. Moreover, the applicants must have the proper regulation, license, and status in Canada to do the job legally.

Applicants must have a genuine full-time job offer from a current employer in Alberta to work in the present occupation. The job offer must have the signature of the applicant and the employer needs to offer paid, continuous, and full-time work in the current job in Alberta.

6 – Income level requirements


The applicants need to meet the annual income norms, depending upon the size of family. The family size comprises of the applicant, common-law partner or the spouse, and dependent children.

Applicants should add the salary of the spouse common-law partner while calculating the income, when the partner has these criteria:

Having an annual income which is equal to or greater than 42% of the principal applicant; and
Having a genuine job offer from an employer of Alberta and is working presently for that employer under proper authorization.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION


The Alberta Opportunity Stream is open to all new applications. The candidates fulfilling the norms can submit the application during all times and these are processed on the basis of the timing of arrival.

The candidates need to prepare a complete application that is based on paper only. All documents should be prepared in hard copy and given to AINP office in one envelope, through mail.

In case of approval of application, Alberta will issue the notification regarding selected for provincial nomination. The Successful applicants get the official nomination enclosed in the mail from the Program.

After getting the provincial nomination, the applicant gets six months to submit the application seeking Canadian PR. Applicants need to complete and submit the application that is based on paper only seeking PR and submit it through mail to the proper application center. Such applications are processed in 18 months.
