The eleventh draw of Express Entry seeking candidates for permanent residency in 2018 was held on May 30.This draw had a different format and was conducted exclusively for the Federal Skilled Trades Class and Provincial Nominee Programs.

The CRS cut-off score for FSTC candidates was 288, and 500 FSTC candidates received the ITA in this round. This cut-off threshold was the record low in CRS for 2018. This recent draw used the tie-break mechanism. Owing to the presence of many FSTC candidates with a score of 288 CRS points, the candidates who had the profile in the pool for a longer time got the top priority. All eligible candidates who had a score of 288 CRS points before June 7, 2017 at 20:11:13 UTC received the invitation here.

Additional facts

It showed the commitment to increase the numbers by using the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Class 250,000 in three years. Additionally, there is a target of 184,000 for the Provincial Nominee Program candidates before the Dec 2020.

The future

There will be a series of more invitations in the future months, as well as years, which will benefit persons and families who wish to migrate to Canada permanently. The CRS is a score from the maximum 1,200 that is in use to attract applicants in federal economic programs. The Express Entry system is in use since January 2015 for processing residency applications.
The score is presently in use as a point of cut-off in Express Entry draws. It projects a candidate who is likely to be successful economically in Canada. For entering the pool, the candidates must be eligible in one of the three - the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Class, or Federal Skilled Trades Class.

Special feature

Candidates in the PNP streams receive 600 additional CRS points when they get the nomination in one of the Programs which is  in alignment  with Express Entry. They can thus get the ITA in a later draw of the pool. A candidate gets 260 points for being proficient in English and French, and a couple gets 270 points. The present Express Entry draw was the 91st draw after the commencement of the since the express entry draw.
