3 New Occupations added by Global Talent Stream to in-demand List

The Canadian Government signified the anniversary of one-year for the Global Talent Stream pilot project on 12th June by adding new three Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics jobs to the list of those considered in-demand by the program.

The new three occupations are Architecture & Science Managers, Engineering Managers, and Mathematicians & Statisticians.

Simultaneously from the Global Talent Occupations List, the occupation of Electrical and Electronics Technologists and Technicians was removed “due to shifting labor market conditions,” said by Government of Canada. After the changes, the total number of Global Talent Occupations list became thirteen.

The government also updated the requirements for Technical, Producer, Creative and Project Manager and Artistic Director in the visual effects and video game fields, and Digital Media Designers “to better match extremely skilled in-demand positions.” Modifications to these requirements involve reducing minimum required work experience to three years from previous five years.

Global Talent Stream One-year Anniversary

In June 2017 Global Talent Stream Launched, below Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program the Global Talent Stream is a pilot project of 24-month that increases access to extremely skilled foreign talent for employers of Canada.

In two categories the Global Talent Stream is accessible to of employers of Canada:

Category A: High-growth organizations that can express a need to deliver unique specific talent from abroad and have been assigned to the Global Talent Stream by a nominated referral partner.

Category B: Companies looking to hire specific highly skilled foreign workers for professions found on the List Global Talent Occupations, which have been defined to be in-demand and for which there is inadequate domestic labor supply.

Key Points for Global Talent Stream

The Canadian government says as of April 30, 2018, the Global Talent Stream has more than 1,600 positions and for that, they had received more than 1,500 applications.

Applications processed within ten business days for eligible workers to have their work permit.
