An announcement has been made regarding the 2014 immigration plan within Canada. The plans are to maintain the overall number of immigrants inside Canada to between 240,000 and 265,000, two of the Canadian visa programs have been broadened considerably. The programs which have been altered are the Provincial Nominee Program and the Canadian Experience Class visa. The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) entitles provinces and territories within the Canadian domain, to nominate an applicant who they deem suitable for a permanent residence visa. the Provincial Nominee Program was formulated and established to entice immigrants to set up home away from the popular Canadian centres and instead reside in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. Only two of the Canadian provinces and territories have not signed up to the Provincial Nominee Program these are Nunavut and Quebec.

Nunavut is a new territory that was founded in 1999 as a homeland for northern Canada. Quebec has got its own individual immigration program initiated. Each of the Canadian provinces and territories has separate credentials that are expected to be met by all applicants. The majority are looking for graduates, especially the ones with greater degrees and qualifications. British Columbia requests that the applicants should be in a working position within British Columbia when the initially make the application. Tradespeople and specified skilled workers who have obtained and possess a valid up to date Canadian trade certificate are very much in high demand, to fill the skill shortage. Applications made by a candidate who possesses high demand skills, have received a legitimate offer to permanently work in Canada or any candidate who is deemed to be strongly eligible will be processed as priority.

Chosen candidates may be invited to make an application to be granted a visa to become a permanent resident. If selected the candidate is then required to give supporting evidence to back up their offer of employment, provide sufficient proof of the work experience they have achieved and documentation of all gained qualifications at all levels. Candidates who do not get chosen or are deemed unsuitable, will be notified and eventually removed from the system. Applicants who make an application for either of the two categories, should all meet with the Canadian adequacy and compatibility requirements, these include a clean criminal record, being of expectational good health as well as having a good understanding and the ability to converse in French and English.
