Live in HongKong

Live in HongKong

If you live in Hong Kong, you will enjoy a very comfortable lifestyle, regardless of whether you live in the central region on Hong Kong Island or are slight further afield in the New Territories.

Groceries can be expensive as all the food has to be imported, but other types of shopping can be far more economical. In fact, the cheap prices for some items attract shoppers from all over the world!

Both luxury products and electronics can be purchased free of Goods Tax, making them top of the wish list for many people but it's not all about big ticket items. Hong Kong has many big malls, as well as boutiques, but there's also never-ending stretches of street markets, especially in areas such as Kowloon. It is a very good option to live in Hong Kong.

If you live in Hong Kong, you may well find it is these street markets which are the places you frequent the most because of the bargains and unusual items that can be found.

Shopping is taken very seriously in Hong Kong and it's big business, whether you live in Hong Kong or are visiting from further afield. It's difficult to appreciate just how vast their malls and centers are; one even offers visitors the ability to check in for their flight!

If you live in Hong Kong and want to combine a spot of retail therapy with a day out, you might want to consider taking a trip to Lantau Island. The island houses the biggest outlet mall in the whole of Hong Kong and features more than 80 different internationally known shops which offer discounts of between 30-70%.

If you live in Hong Kong and are wondering how to get around, you may be better off not opting for a car. Even if you already hold a driving license and are confident behind the wheel, the roads can be busy and difficult to navigate.

Parking is another issue; even if you can find somewhere to leave your vehicle it is likely to be expensive.

For these reasons, many people who live in Hong Kong either opt for public transport or use taxis. Both options are extremely cheap, reliable and easily accessible wherever you are. If you do decide you can't forfeit having your own transport when you live in Hong Kong, you might find leasing a vehicle is better. Not only is this likely to work out cheaper, but they will organize everything from road taxes to maintenance and breakdown assistance for you.
