Accommodation in Hong Kong

Accommodation in Hong Kong

Once you have decided on a migration destination there is still a great deal that you need to know and with any country there are going to be pros and cons to every aspect of life there so it is extremely useful to be clued up on that. To adapt to your new life will be a lot smoother if you are aware of all the information. If you were to book a holiday or buy an object you would research it, you would look into all the ins and outs so for migration which is to be the biggest change in your life, nothing should be overlooked.

This article is going to focus on Accommodation in Hong Kong:

Living on or off the Island

Accommodation is much more inexpensive if you choose to live off the main Island, you get a lot more for your money. The views tend to be nicer and accommodation larger. Living on the island obviously means you are in a closer proximity to all amenities such as entertainment, bars & restaurants but inland Hong Kong is an incredibly built up place and highly populated so accommodation is more expensive and tends to be smaller in size with views nowhere near as great as those off the island.

New or Old build

Newer flats and apartments are practically built on a day to day basis in Hong Kong, there is no shortage of new builds but they are readily sought after with demand being so high. More modern buildings tend to look the part and are built to high standards but they are incredibly small and have somewhat extortionate rents even compared to any major City. Older builds are apartments which were build between the 1970’s and 1990’s, these are much larger in size though many have never been updated, so you may have a much bigger living space with a slightly cheaper rent but your appliances, layout and design will be very much a thing of the past.

Ikea is essential!

There is no middle ground for furniture in Hong Kong. Prices are either incredibly high for top quality even custom made furniture such as beds or sofas or prices are very cheap but this always without exception will reflect in the quality of the item and can be false economy with things needed regularly replacing. There is a middle ground for this and this is the Swedish chain store, Ikea! Ikea has middle of the road and affordable prices for good quality items, there is nothing out of this world or custom made to your specifications but the items are worth their money and there is always the option to have things delivered and then built up in your home by Ikea.
