Denmark's Health Care System

Denmark Health Care System

The Danish healthcare system is primarily funded by taxes of the working Danish citizens and run by the Danish government. The Danish government do boast that all Danish citizens are entitled to “free” health care under the health care system. A private sector for health care is available in Denmark but is extremely small in comparison. The public system is the main health care system and used by the majority of the population of Denmark.

There are elements of any Health Service world wide which are not funded by the government and must be paid for privately, these are things like non essential cosmetic surgery predominantly. Non essential surgeries with the predominant reasoning to be cosmetic such as changes to ones physical appearance due to only vanity reasons must be paid for by the individual. Infertility treatment is funded by the Danish equivalent of the NHS for the first three attempts only, anyone still unsuccessful and wishing to continue must then pay for it themselves.

Immigrants who have a status of permanent residence will be eligible for the health care system as they will then be recognised as a Danish citizen, although the Danish healthcare system is definitely a cheap system to run, it is available to one hundred percent of the population, this is an attractive system to offer especially to migrants who intend to move to Denmark, knowing that of any care was needed by health authorities it will be available, peace of mind is a great thing to have. If Danish health care was compared to that of the United States, whose own health care system is not available to all citizens, only a minute eight percent. It would seem a very cheap system and therefore people would presume a very cheap service was offered with substandard doctors and equipment, this is not the case.

Demark have more hospitals and more beds than the united states, and the care is a very high standard. The country is second to none when it comes to human rights the health care system that looks after people can not be substandard. It seems cheaper on paper, that it the figures not the service and this is due to the managerial aspect of the health system. No medical insurance and lawyers taking money the system has the ability to run without needing more money to line their pockets and therefore the money can go straight into the health care system, benefiting the Danes who use it.
