Denmark Visa

Denmark Visa

Denmark is one of the most beautiful countries in the world with clean cities, stunning scenery as well as much to see and do. It is these qualities which make the country such a draw for visitors despite not having a tropical climate.

However, anyone wishing to visit the country must first check whether they need to obtain a Denmark visa before entering. This is in addition to holding a valid passport.

Denmark Visa Requirements :

A short term Denmark visa is required for any individual from a country where a permit is necessary, even if the trip is only of a short duration. Temporary Denmark visa documentation is suitable only for what is specifically intended for, individuals may not seek permanent residence or stay for a longer period of time.

Once a Denmark visa is issued, any individual who breaches the conditions may find themselves ejected from the country. They may also be served a penalty period during which time they may not apply for another Denmark visa; this is typically three or five years. This punishment is normally handed out for individuals who either attempt to secure permanent residency based on their temporary visa or who overstay their permitted length of time.

If you are granted a Denmark visa, one of the benefits is that you can also visit other Schengen countries on the same permit. The Schengen group of countries decide collectively what nations will and won't require an entry permit which means that the Denmark visa rules will be broadly the same as the others in the group.

The Schengen countries are currently Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta,  the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Denmark Visa Rules :

A Denmark visa will provide an individual with authorization to visit any Schengen country for up to 90 days in any six month period. This limit applies to the Schengen region overall and not each individual nation.

During the three month period you will not generally be allowed to work under the terms of a temporary Denmark visa. The only exception is if the Immigration Service has specifically provided their permission for you to do so.

If you have been granted a residence permit for one of the other Schengen countries you may no longer need a Denmark visa, even if your original place of birth or domicile would normally mean than one is required.
