Denmark Green Card Scheme

Denmark Flag

Denmark has previously been proven to have quite a formidable process when it comes to applying for a work visa, this process has recently become more welcoming for foreign skilled workers. The new process not only gives applicants the opportunity to accomplish their ambitions but it also provides the country with a higher financial taking in the current economical downfall. The newly formed Danish Green card scheme is a system based on points which determines whether an applicant is suitable to live and work in Denmark. Points are issued for level of education, previous work experience, age, and adaptability. If your application is successful and permission is granted for the Green card the applicant does not then have to apply for a work permit.. With the residence permit you are entitled to work paid or voluntary within Denmark however you are not entitled to work on a self employed basis. Working illegally in Denmark could result in deportation.

The applicant needs to reach a minimum of 100 points if they wish to obtain a residence permit under the Green card scheme. At present Denmark is encountering an insufficient amount of secure workers in some aspects of production so it offers an availability of jobs for immigrants in various professional roles. Experienced workers are needed in medical, teaching and engineering these are an example of the areas lacking workers. The applicant must be able to provide documented evidence that they can support themselves and any other person or persons on the application financially for the first twelve months of residency, if all of the documents are not provided in full the application will be declined. A fee must be paid when an application is made, the fee is not refundable if the application is declined. Initially you can be granted a permit under the Denmark Green card scheme for no longer than three years extending this by one year if you apply before the first three years are complete, after this you can then apply for another extension of up to four years. Any applications sent after the permit has expired will be declined leaving you in a situation where you are illegally residing and or working in a country without permission resulting in deportation.

Denmark offers a high wage compared to other countries which makes it a somewhat desirable place to work. The Green card scheme offers benefits such as free child education if you have a family member with you of school age, travel visa free to various countries and you will have the use of local medical care.
