Canada found lacking in Temporary Foreign Workers

Canada Temporary Foreign Workers

The economic condition across the globe represents a sorry state. Job opportunities have taken a slumber and everywhere the amount of unemployed people is increasing by the day. However Canada presents a different state of things. Canada is suffering from the problem of few workers. Many posts are left unfulfilled especially those of foreign workers. Different organizations have appealed the Government to take initiatives to bring in more temporary foreign workers. Especially much effort has been provided by a Canadian organization. They have asked the government to look into the matter and come with a solution to the problem. Unfulfilled posts mean less income and less production. Such luxury is unwarranted in today’s global economic condition.

The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) has asked Ottawa to bring in temporary foreign workers. According to them almost 290,000 full- and part-time jobs remain unfilled across the country. CFIB looks after all the small and mid-sized business in Canada. They are the representative body of all such activities. CFIB conducted a research and the statistics found was harrowing. The CFIB engaged Employment Minister Jason Kenney into conversation regarding the problem. It has been established that Canada suffers terribly from the lack of qualified workers. This has left a deep impact on certain fields of work. Finding a qualified worker is hard in Canada and thus CFIB has urged the government to provide a way in which the lower-skilled TFWs (temporary foreign workers) qualify for permanent residence. Canada suffers most in the field of construction. It has been noted that the construction sector is the most badly affected and has the highest vacancy rate at 3.5 per cent.

The government is looking forward to strengthening their Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) as a means to employ more foreign workers in their system. This will help Canada fight the slump.
