Canadian Visas

Canadian Visas

There are many different Canadian visas available to suit a wide range of situations, with everything from study to work to permanent residence all on offer.

However, although the reason for the application for one of the Canadian visas may be different than someone else, you will have one thing in common: the need to learn about your new home.

Canada is one of the largest countries on the planet, covering a mind-boggling total of 3.9 million square miles. With more than 125,000 miles of coastline, high mountains, forests, prairies and arctic tundra, it's safe to say that the landscape can vary wildly depending on where you settle.

For this reason, Canadian visas are not the same for the whole of the country and you may want to consider the best place to move to, depending on your reason for entry.

As an example, if you applied for one of the Canadian visas that allow you to seek work, moving to one of the more isolated areas may not best suit your needs.

If you have applied for one of the Canadian visas you might find yourself surprised by the weather when you arrive, particularly if you arrive from a warmer climate. Some parts of Canada are warm and even humid in the summer months but during the winter it can be particularly cold. If you are applying for one of the temporary Canadian visas you might want to think about the time of year you are planning your trip for more carefully.

Language is another important issue that will be taken into account when you apply for Canadian visas. However, you may still be able to apply to come to the country to improve your language skills and in Canada this means either French or English. Canada is one of the few truly bilingual countries, with around 18 million people who speak English as their first language and 7 million who speak French as their first language.

If your first language is neither of these and you can't pass at least a basic comprehension test, you may well want to take some lessons before applying for any of the Canadian visas because to be accepted, you will need to demonstrate you can communicate to a satisfactory level.

Once you have been accepted for one of the Canadian visas, there's much you can do to prepare yourself for the move in advance. The Citizenship and Immigration Canada website has a wealth of information which will provide practical information on every aspect you may want to consider.
