Migrate to Australia

Migrate to Australia

There are many things you may have considered for when you are ready to migrate to Australia but food may not have been one of them.

 Why to migrate Australia?

The relative cost of living, finding a new job, setting up home are all concerns which are likely to have featured on your radar but it's also a good idea to consider the culinary delights too if you wish to migrate to Australia.

Not Internationally Renowned:

Although Australia may now have its very own national version of Masterchef, traditionally the country is not renowned for its cooking.

In fact, the chances are then when you decided to migrate to Australia, the food on offer in the country probably never even crossed your mind.

Although the nation undoubtedly boasts some world-famous chefs, they probably wouldn't be the first that the average man on the street would think of when asked. Despite this, celebrity chefs such as Maggie Beer and Michelin-starred Kylie Kwong are held in high regard in countries all over the globe.

When you migrate to Australia, the cuisine may not be the first, second, or even last thing you think about but it's worth giving it some thought before you firm up your plans.

Fresh Products:

Australia has a mish-mash of cultures and cuisines which means that you have the choice of dining in many different types of restaurant, or even trying different types of cooking in your new home.

Thai food has a strong influence and is seen in many dishes all over the country. However, it is the presence of fresh food which really marks out a typical Australian dish.

A large part of the nation lives either nearby water or in coastal regions so it's perhaps not so surprising when you migrate to Australia to learn that seafood and fish plays a major role in the diet. If you like fish, this could be the perfect place for you!

Freshly caught seafood is often on the menu and prawn, tuna and salmon are standard offerings. Traditional Australian fish such as King George Whiting, Mud Crab, Dhufish and Yabby can all often be seen in recipes too.

An Abundance of Fruit:

But it's not just the seafood which is fresh and inviting; Australia also has a bountiful fruit crop with a huge number of fresh supplies available in supermarkets all over the country for you to enjoy.

Produced in Australia and with a wide distribution net, there are many types of fresh fruit which will help your palate adjust in Australia. Kiwi fruit, apples, bananas, oranges, mangoes, pawpaw, papaya, passion fruit and apricots are just some of those most frequently consumed fruits, all available from local growers.

Quirky:

Finally, it's worth at least examining the practices of eating some of the lesser known meats, but you may have to visit a restaurant to do this. Kangaroo, emu and crocodile meat is all on offer but is frequently considered as specialist because they require careful preparation and cooking in order to bring out the best.

Should you however wish to dabble by cooking a spot of kangaroo meat or even an emu burger, many of the larger supermarkets sell the meat for you to try out at home when you migrate to Australia. You might want to follow it up by a more palatable dessert famous all across Australia: the pavlova.
