Australian Working Holiday Visa

A Working Holiday Visa is a temporary visa. It is the perfect opportunity to take a year out and explore the whole of Australia hands on and the experience is like nothing you could find in any travel guides or websites. It is a chance to live, work and play as an Australian so the perfect option for those who are considering permanent migration but aren’t fully ready to take the plunge, or a great options for students during a gap year. 

A Working Holiday Visa is for people aged between 18 - 30 who wish to visit and work in Australia for upto a period of 12 months, and no longer. To be eligible for this particular visa the basics are that you must firstly be within the age range of 18-30, if you do have dependant children then they must not be travelling with you and you must have a valid passport. 

A Working Holiday Visa will allow you to reside in the country for upto a year and during that time you are able to leave and return as many times as you wish. You can work for the whole 12 month period but the snag is that it must be upto 6 months a time with a separate employer or separate employers. Under this visa you can also study in Australia for up to four months. 

Temporary visas such as the Working Holiday Visa are not generally difficult to obtain in comparison to more permanent visas and the process of application is a lot less thorough than the screening which is involved with residency visas for example. Most of the time a police clearance certificate is not required and if you do have to have a medical examination it is much less invasive. You do not need to provide any evidence of being able to financially support yourself for the duration of your stay under a Working Holiday Visa and you obviously do have the full right to seek employment and work in the country until the visa runs out. Applying for a Working Holiday Visa visa is very straightforward, all you have to do is simply fill out the relevant application forms and submit them to the Australian mission then wait for the response. There are many agencies around who will help you will your application form to ensure there are no mistakes made as this can of course delay the process, these agencies can be beneficial but they do all charge and using them will have no bearing on the process, all the relevant information can be easily accessed on the Australian Government Website.
